The Family Caregiver Support Program

This program is funded by Snohomish County Long-term care and aging, and is open to any family caregiver in our community who has primary responsibility for the care of an older adult in need of daily assistance. If you care for a family member with Alzheimer’s, dementia, MS, diabetes, stroke, heart attack, ALS, Parkinson’s or any illness or injury - this program is for you. It offers you:

1. Support groups. The weekly support groups are primarily for caregivers who are in need of a safe place to talk, connect with other caregivers, feel accepted in your role, laugh, cry, or vent. This is your time and this is the place. Our Family Caregiver Support Groups are the 1st and 3rd Monday from 3 - 4:30pm and every Tuesday from 10 - 12noon in the Library Conference room. Please join us anytime.

2. Individual counseling. Take the time to sit and be heard.

3. Consultation. Assistance focused on solving problems to do with care giving.

4. Information and assistance on accessing local services.

5. Workshops. "Powerful Tools for Caregivers" is a six week course especially created for caregivers. It helps with communication with the care-receiver, family and friends, stress reduction, confidence building, and especially - caring for the caregiver

6. Referral for respite care. Low cost sliding scale respite care offered by the county.

7. Community education.

8. Family meetings. Does the rest of your family not really understand your experience as a caregiver? Would it help if a professional helped get the family united in the care of your loved one?
